A purrfect combo: Benefit from talented vets and advanced diagnostics to keep your pets their healthiest best!

We cannot treat what we do not know. For this reason, Bloomfield Animal Hospital has made considerable investments in technologies to accurately and promptly detect underlying conditions at the root of distressing symptoms and changes in your pet. Our veterinarians and staff proudly provide accessible and trusted in-house diagnostics to our neighbours across  Lakewood, California. Since we have invested in the latest diagnostic capabilities, our clients have peace of mind that their beloved dogs and cats will be evaluated in the safest, gentlest, and least invasive way possible.

When do you use these technologies?

As a full-service veterinary hospital, we have an on-site lab, digital imaging, and ultrasound capabilities. Our range of tests and services may be ordered routinely, as part of your pet’s broader preventative program. We can check for any changes from your last visit during regular wellness visits. Or, there may be conditions that we are looking to rule out. For instance, you may come to us with concerns about how your pet looks or acts.

What types of tests might be ordered?

  • CBC – The Complete Blood Count measures the volume or quantity of white and red blood cells and platelets and the quality/function of these components of your pet’s blood.
  • Urinalysis and fecal testing – Urine or stool samples may also be evaluated to check for threats to your pet’s health, such as intestinal parasites.
  • Endocrinology assessment – These tests detect imbalances or anomalies associated with your pet’s hormones. These findings can reveal conditions that affect your pet’s long-term health and well-being and require specific interventions.
  • Electrolyte analyses – These services refer to imbalances in salts and compounds (such as potassium), which can adversely affect organ function.
  • Chemistry profile – By measuring enzymes in the blood, we can assess liver, kidney, and pancreas function (among other organs).
  • Digital imaging – This advanced alternative to conventional X-rays produces clear images of tissues to inform effective treatment plans. Plus, your pet is exposed to less radiation via digital radiography when compared to film-based X-rays.
  • Ultrasound – A non-invasive, painless, convenient, and economical way to “see what’s inside,” from strange masses to “foreign bodies.”
