The team of Bloomfield Animal Hospital in the Lakewood area understands that the homeless often have furry companions with them. A dog can be a great source of comfort for those who are living on the streets, or even for those who are close to losing their homes. Income is often a barrier to providing food for themselves, let alone their pets, which is where Dr. Jose Arambulo and his team help with their Pets of the Homeless program.
What is Pets of the Homeless?
Pets of the Homeless is a program dedicated to helping provide pet food and medical care for pets. This non-profit group provides foods via donations to low income or homeless individuals who are struggling to provide for their pets. Since we are partners with Pets of the Homeless we work in conjunction with Meals on Wheels in the City of Lakewood to distribute pet food that was donated to this program.
Where can I donate?
If you are interested in donating food for the Pets of the Homeless program, we encourage you to drop off your pet products at Bloomfield Animal Hospital. It is through the support of caring individuals that we can donate up to 60 pounds of food each week through this program. Every little bit makes a difference.
Help make a difference in your community
At Bloomfield Animal Hospital, we care about everyone. When the homeless are on the streets with their pets, or in a situation where they cannot afford to feed their furry friends, we provide donated food to ensure everyone lives a long, healthy life. We encourage families to bring pet food donations to our practice when they visit at 20927 Norwalk Boulevard or contact our practice at (562) 383-7788 to learn more about our Pets of the Homeless program.
