As pet owners, there’s almost nothing more stressful than when our fur baby’s not feeling well. Our companions provide so much joy and comfort in our lives that it’s hard to watch them go through a mysterious illness and not be able to help them feel better. This is where we can help! At Bloomfield Animal Hospital, Dr. Jose Arambulo and visiting board-certified radiologist Dr. Ann Reed use diagnostic imaging for animals to find out what’s ailing your loved one.
Diagnosing Your Pet with Digital X-Rays and Ultrasound
At Bloomfield Animal Hospital, we use various techniques to diagnose your pet’s condition. Tools such as digital x-rays and ultrasound allow us to look inside to understand better what’s making your fur baby unwell. Here’s more on each technology and how it helps us get your pet on the road to wellness.
Digital X-Rays
Digital veterinary radiographs are the same as human x-ray machines without film. These devices provide more explicit images of joints, bones, and organs while releasing less harmful radiation. Best of all, they are faster, pain-free, and have other advantages over traditional x-ray machines, such as:
- More precise, more detailed images
- The ability to manipulate images such as enhancing, enlarging, and rotating to produce the most accurate diagnosis
- You and your vet can review the images on a monitor so you can better understand what’s going on and make the best treatment decisions
- We can email images to you or another provider or a specialist
Digital x-ray technology is vital for examinations and creating precise diagnoses of conditions such as ingested objects, obstruction, tumors, masses, arthritis, and broken bones. We also use digital x-rays to conduct pet dental exams as well.
Ultrasound
The ultrasound equipment designed for veterinary use is much like those used to diagnose humans. These devices use high-frequency sound waves that bounce off tissue producing clear images of the inside of your pet’s body. Ultrasound can also detect tumors, aid in diagnosing complex internal health issues, and help us monitor the course of specific treatments. This technology also allows us to screen pain-free for spleen, bladder, kidney, liver, and heart conditions.
Our on-call radiologist, Dr. Reed, specializes in providing fast and accurate diagnoses while ensuring your fur baby’s comfort. Since we offer all these services in one location, you don’t have to travel back and forth to different facilities saving you time and stress while getting your loved ones the best medical care possible in a relaxed and familiar setting.
